Mohan Swaminathan was appointed Operations Director (MI) for Gestamp’s North America Division in July 2024. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s three Michigan plants, developing the sales, growth strategy, driving business development, and aligning plant operations with global initiatives led by the corporate team.
He also serves as Digital Operations Director, leading Industry 4.0 efforts across the U.S. region. Working closely with corporate leadership, he helps define strategic objectives and establish a clear roadmap to achieve Operational Excellence through digitalization in Gestamp’s U.S. facilities.
Prior to this appointment, Swaminathan served as Plant Director at Gestamp Mason starting in 2021. He previously held the position of Assistant Plant Director (2017–2021), led the Hot Stamping division, and contributed to industrial engineering initiatives across the region (2007–2017). His career at Gestamp began as an Industrial Engineer at the Alabama plant.
In 2002, after earning a Master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Madras (India), he joined Oxford Automotive as an Industrial Engineer—first as a trainee in Troy (MI), then in Canton (MS). In 2004, Gestamp acquired the former Oxford Automotive plant in McCalla (AL), marking the beginning of his journey with the company
