Dr. Georges Ayoub
Associate Professor
University of Michigan–Dearborn

Dr. Georges Ayoub is an Associate Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, Director of the Center for Materials and Advanced Manufacturing, and co-founding faculty member of the Sustainability Center at the University of Michigan–Dearborn. Since joining UM-Dearborn in 2016, his research has centered on experimental testing, characterization, and modeling of polymers and metal alloys, with particular expertise in manufacturing processes, material degradation, and fracture mechanics. His work combines advanced experimental methods with algorithm development to predict material performance under complex service conditions, enabling innovations in digital manufacturing and paving the way toward Industry 5.0. Dr. Ayoub has published more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles in leading materials science and engineering journals. He is the founding director of the undergraduate Human-Centered Engineering Design (HCED) program, which integrates engineering, design thinking, and social impact. Through federally funded research projects, industry collaborations, and international partnerships, Dr. Ayoub advances both the scientific understanding of materials behavior and the practical application of next-generation manufacturing technologies.
